[Genymotion] How to increase video memory and enable 2D / 3D acceleration of virtual devices

This video will show you how to increase video memory and enable 2D / 3D acceleration of virtual devices created in Genymotion


There are a few VM setting in Genymotion, such as memory, screen size, no of CPUs. You need to use the Oracle VM VirtualBox for advance setting of VMs. 

1. Start the Oracle VM VirtualBox

2. Choose the VM you need to config in the left panel of VirtualBox. (Check your Virtual Devices name in Genymotion)

3. Right Click -> Click "Settings..."

4. Choose Display Setting. You can adjust the video memory size and some video setting on this page.

5. Using the slidebar to adjust the video memory (for 2D rendering, max 128MB).

6. Click the "Enable 3D Acceleration" checkbox to enable 3D acceleration in VM. Click OK button to confirm.


7. You can check the video setting has been updated in the main panel of VirtalBox. Enjoy!

[Genymotion] How to allow root access in Genymotion (for the old version of Genymotion)

This video will show you how to allow root access in Genymotion. (New version of Genymotion have root access already)



Software used:




1. You can use Root Checker Basic to check the current status of Genymotion. Start the app and click verify root. It say that this device do not have root access.

2. Now go to Genymotion Configuration. There is an option "Always allow su access (bypass Superuser app)". Select it and click the Save button

3. Click Yes to reboot Genymotion. It takes about 5-10 mins to reboot Genymotion.

4. Check the status again. The checker should display "This device has root access!". Enjoy!
